Gobs O’Phun Brings Irish Pub Music May 13

Gobs O’Phun, natives of Pueblo, Colorado, will perform May 13, 7 p.m., as part of the House Concert subscription series.

The group are straight out of the Irish Pub tradition. The “Gobs” are natives of Pueblo, Colorado, who started performing as a family pastime in the early 1970s. Denis Sullivan and older brother Jim joined brother-in-law Martin Lambuth to form Gobs O’Phun in 1994. Their unconventional harmony style does not follow assigned parts but creates a robust style and flavor, much like the Clancy Brothers. The interaction with the audience, self-deprecating humor and improvised stage antics and banter have earned them a regular following of fans. In addition to playing pubs and festivals in the Denver region for years, they have produced two live performance cassettes and three CDs.
